Please plan to join us for the IWQA 2019 Winter Meeting on January 23-24, 2019 in Des Moines, IA.
We will host a late afternoon educational meeting followed by board meeting dinner, with scheduled one on one legislator meetings at the Capitol with those who are willing and interested.
Wednesday, January 23, 2019
Johnny's Italian Steakhouse/DoubleTree by Hilton Des Moines Airport
6800 Fleur Drive
Des Moines, IA 50321
3:00pm - Check-in and Networking
3:30pm - Chip Howes, Aqua Serve, Past President CO WQA
Chip will provide an overview of what prompted the Colorado WQA to promote a specialty license to legislators in the state, the process of getting the state to accept WQA certification as an option and the pros and cons of establishing a specialty license.
4:00pm - Tanya Lubner, PhD, Professional Certification and Training Director, WQA, "Why bother with a voluntary professional certification?"
WQA Professional Certification provides professionals the essential understanding of water treatment and equipment and hands-on practice that in-field employees must have to do their jobs effectively. It provides the confidence that customers and regulators need in your company’s expertise as well as the confidence you have in your employees to handle any challenge in the field. Without a third-party credential, customers have only your word and maybe some testimonials to judge whether you know what you’re doing and that means you could be losing business.
4:30pm - Break
5:00pm - Board meeting dinner. Dinner off menu. We will be joined by David Loveday, Global Government Affairs Director WQA and Tom Cope, IWQA Legislative Counsel.
Wednesday and Thursday, January 23 and 24, 2019
Iowa State Capitol
1007 E. Grand Avenue
Des Moines, IA 50319
In place of a breakfast, Tom will be coordinating to hold one on one meetings with legislators for those who are interested. Your availability around the legislators schedules will be helpful.
